Čakovec is a city located in the northern part of Croatia. Located in the central part of Međimurje County, it is the largest of its three cities and lies between the Mura and Drava rivers. It is also known for its vineyards, agriculture and hunting areas. In 2001, it was the second most populated city in Croatia.
After visiting Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria and Slovenia we arrived at the final destination of our roadtrip in Europe to visit the beautiful citadel of Cakovec.
Croatia is an amazing country! So small and so complete! There you will find all types of landscapes, climate, history… Organized, kind and super prepared for tourism. Despite having a troubled history, marked by wars, conflicts and suffering, the country is now practically remade. A fantastic destination, with open arms to welcome visitors from all over the world! The cuisine is also a strong point, healthy and delicious! The bakery part then, delicious delicacies, with various chocolates.
The famous Croatian aristocratic Zrinski family stands in the unconquerable and sumptuous Wasserburg in the 16th century, next to which free royal city of Cakovec sprouts. In the green garden beneath the historic heart of the city, consisting of Zrinski fortification, the Franciscan monastery and church of St. Nicholas (Sveti Nikola), the baroque complex and the secession palace is preserved.
Around the historic core developed the current town of Čakovec, in the center of the Province Međimurska, pleasing to 20,000 people; It enjoys complete infrastructure, municipal horticultural parks, economic projections and cultural activities. In addition to the historic center, tourists are offered excellent cuisine, sporting activities and attractive events throughout the year. Čakovec was declared a model city in Croatia in 2008 at the Flower Action.
Dubrovnik is really beautiful, although it can sometimes feel very touristy (crowded and expensive). However, Dubrovnik is great, and certainly a must-visit destination in Croatia.
Dubrovnik has been classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1979. The most popular attraction in Dubrovnik is the old town and the nearby pedestrianized city walls.
Dubrovnik, the southernmost city in Croatia, is probably more popular than Croatia itself.
If you go in summer, be sure to enjoy the beautiful Croatian summer and Plitvice Lakes National Park!
